New Mexico is home to a burgeoning wine industry that encompasses the entire range of activities from preparing the vineyard to selling the wine. Key to the industry are the many grape growers, who grow a wide variety of grapes for home and commercial wine makers. An important survey of grape growers was done by Gary Miller in 1998. The study identified not just the grape growers but the varieties of grapes and numbers of vines. The 1998 study was published in the "17th Annual New Mexico Grape Growers and Wine Makers Conference Proceedings".
